Grown & packed by H. G. Stelling, Sunnyvale, California.
Henry G. Stelling was born in Cupertino and educated in San Jose schools. His parents, John and Louise Stelling, came to this valley from Germany in the first wave of the gold rush in 1850. They resided first at Julian and Seventeenth Streets in San Jose and they were among the first settlers in the Cupertino area.
The family name is borne by the road which bordered their large orchard. Both Henry and later his son Donald served as Director of the California Fruit Exchange and President of the Santa Clara County Growers Association. Donald was also President of the Santa Clara County Pear Growers Association.
